3rd August, Ice Show, 5 - 7 pm.
These events are a great way for the Skating Club to show parents and others some of the skills learned by the pupils during the season under the tuition of the club's very qualified figure skating coaches. Again, if you wish to have lessons, contact the rink and they will put you in touch with someone from the club.
Inter-club competitions run all day, every Monday and Wednesday during May and June, and on Thursday nights their social games start at 6pm. Newcomers are most welcome to have a try.
Corporate Curling has proved very popular on a Thursday night. Ask at the rink for a contact person then get your team organised.
Hack curling is well established at Olympic Level and is proving very popular with all ages, and tuition is available for this.
July School Holiday Activities:
During the July school holidays, an Activities Programme is held where children can learn figure skating, hockey and curling skills during an hour-long session. These are run on the Tuesday and Friday of both weeks, for the skating and hockey skills and cost $20 per session. This covers the cost of admission, skate hire and tuition. Curling skills are taught on Thursday morning of each week, also at a cost of $20 per session. Contact the rink for more details.
This is an ideal way to introduce your children to ice sports and is especially popular with grandparents who have grandchildren visiting for the holidays.
Children Inter Primary School Curling Tournament:
Friday 5th July
This event has proved a great success, involving school children from the different schools around the area, competing in a curling competition with small curling stones especially suited for younger players. This event becomes more popular each year as schools get more involved in curling and inter-school competition is quite fierce. The rink is closed to the public from 9am – 3 pm during this event, and opens for the public from 3pm – 4.45 pm. Normal Friday night public session.
